The Indian Missionary Society, known as the IMS, is an indigenous missionary congregation founded at Christnagar of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh in India. It helps promote the Gospel values of love, justice and peace irrespective of caste, class or creed. It seeks to build up human communities based on these values, primarily among the rural poor, the marginalized and the downtrodden. Participating in the mission of the worldwide Church, it seeks to bring the good tidings that Jesus came to bring to everyone in need.

Founded on the 3rd of November in 1941 by Rev. Gaspar A. Pinto of happy memory today the IMS is spread across the country and is engaged in various ministries at the service of the people. Its members are currently engaged in apostolates in 38 Archdioceses and Dioceses mainly within the country, but also abroad. Wherever an IMS missionary serves, the Society's charism of pioneering evangelization is expected to set him apart from the rest. Wherever an IMS community is established, its imprint on the local population is expected to endure.
